Aims and Scope of the Journal

 

  •  The Arab Journal for the Humanities (AJH) aims to highlight the contributions of Arab specialists in the field of the humanities and to shed light on central issues of the field.
  • It provides with an intellectual platform for interested Arab thinkers and researchers of the various branches of the humanities.
  • The journal intends to contribute to the field of the humanities by publishing innovative and original research papers that tackle relevant issues to the field.
  • The Arab Journal for the Humanities publishes scholarly articles that explore from innovative and analytical perspectives a wide range of topics in the fields of Arabic literature, foreign languages and literatures, comparative literature, linguistics, philosophy, theory and practice history, archeology, contemporary culture, media studies, fine arts (music, theatre, painting and sculpture), as well as the newly emerging disciplines within the humanities. Of special interest are articles that explore the interrelationship between the various domains of the humanities.
  • As an academic publication that predominantly publishes articles in Arabic, the journal seeks to advance new methodological and theoretical approaches to literary, philosophical, and historical Arabic texts and cultural productions.
  • Consistent with its goal to position itself as a leading journal from the Arabian Gulf region, the journal, besides Arabic, publishes articles written in English and French. Moreover, all abstracts of all published articles appear in English.
  • Each issue consists of six to eight peer-reviewed articles as well as a number of book reviews. Occasionally, the journal features a scholars’ forum on a specific issue related to the humanities.
  • The journal investigates the latest literature in the various branches of the field of the humanities by means of presentation, revision, and evaluation.
  • The journal conducts scientific seminars, in which participants discuss concepts and phenomena concerned with the field of the humanities, or fields related to it. The seminars address important theoretical and intellectual issues, as well as recent events on both the domestic and international scene.
