The Problem of Arabisation in Connecting with Generative Capability of Arabic Language (in Arabic)

Auther : Suha Fatehi

The problem of study in this paper derives from the lexicographic nature of Arabic. This problem lies in the fact that the Arabic lexicon represents the potentials and the body of lexical roots of the language, roots in theory are void digits filled by meaning, whether these be Arabic or non-Arabic. Through its long history, Arabic has comprehended non-Arabic denotations by resorting to Arabic signifiers abundant yet unaccomplished in the language. The central issue in this paper consequently concerns the question of the potential linguistic efficiency in Arabic, with an analysis that cites as evidence the rise of new words, which are Arabic in form but non-Arabic in denotation, to suggest that the Arabisation of a word does not necessarily entail Arabisation of meaning. This is because what has been deduced by analogy of the speech of Arabs is considered to be a part of the speech of Arabs especially in such a case as that of the four-letter roots that are flexible, both in meaning and in form, in transforming many non-Arabic meanings into Arabic after affecting some modifications on the word’s morphological and phonological features, so that it is amenable to Arabic rules of inflection, derivation, parsing and the principles governing these in Arabic.
