Holy Places of Jerusalem, and al-Khalil in Morocco and Andalusian Travellers Books (in Arabic)

Auther : Nawaf Al-Jahma

The research investigates the holy places in Jerusalem, and al-Khalil through travel documents in the period between the fifth Hijri century and the eighth Hijri (11-14 AC). The research investigates the most important Islamic holy places eg: the image of Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Holy Rock, the cemeteries of the prophets in al-Khalil and the Jewish and Christian holy places in the Ayoobi and Mamlouki period. The travel literature shows the religious map of the holy places in the cities of Jerusalem and Al-Khalil plus the significant role of the Islamic state in conserving the holy places during the period subject to research.

This paper examines travel documents of the period between the 5th and 8th centuries Hijri (11th-14CE) dealing with holy places in Jerusalem, and al-Khalil.
