An Evaluation Of The First Stage In Arabicizing University Science Instruction Adopted By The Arabic Language Academy In Jordan (in Arabic)

The primary purpose of this study is to identify the attitudes and opinions of the translators, professors, and students toward the university Science Textbooks, The process of Arabicizing those textbooks:;, and the role undertaken by the Arabic Language Academy in Jordan concerning the translation of those textbooks into Arabic to be taught at the Jordanian Universities.
The results of the analysis of the collected data indicated the following:
a. Concerning the organization of the content, method of presentation, importance method of evaluation, succession of chapters, conceitedness of Ideas, and functionality of the science textbooks before translation into Arabic, the degree of translator satisfaction (81%) was significantly higher than the degree of the professors satisfaction (60%).
b. Concerning the role undertaken by the Arabic Language Academy in Jordan in the process of science textbooks translation into Arabic the degree of the translators' satisfaction was found to be 93%, while the degree of the professors' satisfaction was 77%.
c. Concerning the science textbooks after they were translated into Arabic, with regard to the fineness of the translation, the figures and tables included in those textbooks, and with regard to the process of Arabicizing science instruction for all four years at the Jordanian, and to the effects of Arabization of science instruction on the academic achievement universities of students, the degree of the translators satisfaction was found to be 71%, while the degree of the professors satisfaction was 58%.
d. The general attitude of the students towards the process of Arabization of Science in struction at the Jordanian

Universities was in favor of that process. 75% of the students in dictated that science instruction in English in dangerous, and that it affects the Arabic Language negatively. They also indicated that instruction in Arabic is very important to the development of the Arabic Thought and to the growth of the Arabic Language as well. The students were convinced that instruction in Arabic increases there academic achievement and understanding of the material taught to them, and that the Arabic language is capable of handling all the scientific and technological terms.
The researchers recommend the continuation of the process of Arabization. They also recommend that the textbooks be chosen for translation into Arabic, and that the translators should be chosen according to present specific standers.
