Transformation in Double Moods and Their Letters (in Arabic)

Auther : Abdul Rahman Ismail

Transformation is one of the easiest and lightest ways of using language, a feature of its modifications, and a common phenomenon among many languages. Our Arabic Language is placed at the head of them; it has several phenomena and beautiful arts, which are felt by those who scrutinise, speculate and know how to deal with them.

Transformation has many phenomena in Arabic which include lightness, anastrophe, compensation,; vocalization, mutation, diphthongization, ease, dissimilation,..etc.

This phenomenon has several axes, which are noted in sounds, moods, and structures.

Transformation in sounds happens either in transforming one sound to another phonetically similar sound, for instance some Arabs transfer the sound seen (س) in (sakar سقر) to sad a in (صقر saker), or to zay (ز) in (zakar زقر). On the other hand transformation happens in the order of the sounds; as in the case of advancement of (abar آبار) from (abaar آبئار),  or as in the case of retracting as in (saqua صاقعة) from (sa'iqa صاعقة) etc.

Transformation in moods happens with increase or decrease of (letters) which for a fixed purpose, as when transforming the form of (fa'el) from the triliteral verb to the forms of hyperbole: (fa''al فعّال , mif'al مفعال , fa'ul فعول , fa'eel فعيل ,fi'l فعل , to exaggerate the action of the verb.
