The Samanid's Coins and Their Importance in Studying Their Relation with the Abbasid Caliphate (From the Rise of their State of the Middle of the Fourth Century A.H.) (in Arabic)

Auther : Mahmoud Arafah mahmoud

This research deals with studying Samanid coins and its importance as an indicator of their relationship with the Abbasid Caliphate in light of the chosen coin pieces of Samanid collection preserved in the Islamic Art Museum in Cairo.

During the 3rd and 4th centuries A.H., the Islamic world has witnessed the emergance of difierent non-Arab states in the eastern part of the Abbasid Caliphate. Although these states were considered under the domination of the abbasid Caliphate, they were in reality independent. One of these states was the Samanid. Its influence and domination covered important areas such as: Transoxania, Khorasan and Daylamite Zone of Iran.

Readings from the coins incriptions stamped in Transoxania and the surrounding regions by the Samanid identify a stable and Good relation between both the Samanid and the Abbasid Caliphate.

It was shown , at this stage, that the Samanid rulers struck their names beside the titles of Abbasid Caliphs.

Furthermore the Samanid have never sent the Kharaj (taxes) to the Capital of the Abbasid Caliphate. Instead, it was utilized in the state expenditure which resulted in the development of the Samanid economic life.
