Aspects of Resemblance between Municipality Rules and Al-Husbah System Rules and their Impact on Urban Control of Kuwait Town until the Early 1950s (in Arabic)

Auther : Waleed Al-Menayes

This study attempts to trace and explore the aspects of the Al-Husbah system and its impact on shaping the urban structure and urban aspects of Kuwait Town before oil discovery, in relation to the rules and regulations of the Municipality and its Council.

The system of Al-Husbah that was adopted and practiced in Kuwait town can be identified by looking at the nature of the Municipality rules, which were a direct reflection of the AI-Husbah rules of Islamic cities.

Since the Municipality and its Council appeared in the late 1920s and lasted until the early 1950s, the study will make use of Municipality minutes in that period, in order to make a comparison between Al-Husbah rules and Municipality rules, to prove that Kuwait Town at that time was purely an Islamic town in terms of its planning and regulations, before the advent of modern Western master plans in the oil era.
