The Death of the Author: Philosophical Dimensions of the Concept and Its Effect on the Aesthetic Experience (in Arabic).

Auther : Badr al-Deen Mostafa

The concept of The Death of the Author (La Mort De L'auteur), formulated by Roland Barthes (1915- 1980) and later developed by many aesthetics philosophers and literary critics, was not detached from the cultural scope within which Barthes formulated this concept. In fact, the declaration of the death of the author can only be comprehended within a more generic context; the propagation and prevalence of the idea of "Ends" in the twentieth century, as well as Nietzsche's statement of the death of God, and the critique of centricisim and the logic of identity. Those were the issues that occupied a lot of philosophers and trends along the second half of the twentieth century.
On the one hand, this study seeks to analyze this concept, put it within its context, and relate it to other concepts that had a great influence on the western philosophical thought and its characteristics in the second half of the twentieth century. On the other hand, the study seeks to emphasize on the influences of this concept on the aesthetic experience with its three levels: creation, reader-response and critique.
Finally, the study tries to answer some questions like: did the birth of the reader entail the death of the author? Is it possible to come to a more developed formulation of the death of the author statement; that makes from the author a subject that is absent present in the same time?
