Palestinian Newspapers’ Stance on the Jewish Immigration to Palestine (1919-1923) (in Arabic).

Auther : Saleh Alshora

This paper aims to shed light on the way newspapers convey the immigration of Jews to Palestine in the years between 1919 and 1923. The paper analyzes the journalistic mindset that tackled the subject of the immigration and observes the role played by those newspapers in perceiving the depth of the tragedy that would eventually result from the Jewish immigration. The paper explores the different viewpoints the newspapers had of the immigration and the methods through which they portrayed it. Moreover, the paper studies the journalistic forms of objections against the Jews’ presence, which was supported by the British. The newspapers share a semi-consensus that the intentions of the British are not questioned, and that hostility is directed against Zionism alone. The study examines the reality and imagination of the newspapers and the way the issue of the immigration is reflected in their pages.
