FACTORS THAT MAKE COMMITTEES AND SCHOOL COUNCILS MORE EFFECTIVE FROM THE VIEWPOINT OF A SAMPLE OF GENERAL SCHOOL PRINCIPALS AND TEACHERS AT THE EASTERN PROVINCE OF SAUDI ARABIA

          The goal of this study revolves around the concept of how to make committees and school councils more effective from the viewpoint of a sample of general school principals and teachers at the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.

         The sample consisted of 165 principals and teachers from different parts and levels of general education at the Eastern Province.

          The study findings indicate almost absolute consensus on all recommended statements, and the degree of effectiveness reached (94%) and (72.1%) with a mean of (2.94 – 2.96).

          Also results indicate that there are significant differences (have been found) among means related to the following:

*  School Principals and Teachers regarding different committees and school councils.

The stage of school variable, where almost absolute consensus on all recommended statements for high schools over primary schools and the governmental school building over the related and ARAMCO school building.

         Absolute consensus on almost all advantages and disadvantages of committees and school councils.  Finally, the study was furnished with some recommendations.
