Kuwait Viewers Behaviors: Field Study

Auther : Yousef M. AL-Failakawi

It is well-known that television stations around the world spend tremendous amounts of money and time on their programs, personnel, and equipment in order to communicate with the audience.  It is essential for television executives to evaluate any success or failure in achieving their major objectives.  Such evaluations can be obtained with a comprehensive study, which examines the identities of television audience members, as well as all aspects of the audiences exposure to television.
This study is a social-scientific survey of the audience in Kuwait.  It looks at viewing behaviors of the Kuwaiti television audiences.  It defines the behaviors of the Kuwaiti viewers before they turn their TV sets on, the behaviors when they are watching, and their behaviors after finish watching.
This study shows that Kuwaiti viewers can be defined as passive viewers because they don’t actively seek ways to know what will be on television.  Kuwaiti viewers consider watching television a social activity.  When they watch television, they usually watch with their families and friends.  The major predictors of the viewing behaviors of the Kuwaitis are their residential and viewers gender.
