TURKEY AND IRAN AND THE SECOND GULF CRISIS: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS

The study is a comparative examination of both the Turkish and Iranian roles during the Gulf crisis. It sheds much light on: The Geopolitical and strategic determinants of the Iranian and Turkish positions; the political behavior of both
Turkey and Iran during the crisis; and the various Iranian and Turkish political, economic, and strategic benefits resulting from the crisis. According to the study the Iranian and Turkish responses to the Gulf crisis helped consolidate their strategic role in the Middle East, and brought to both countries an enhanced international status.
