Economics of Trade Fairs in the G.C.C.

Trade firs are respected service industry which are capital and labor intensive. Like others in its league (Such as hotels, airlines, film-making studios, banking), success in this industry is governed by economic (e.g. supply, demand, availability of substitutes, and economics of scale) and noneconomic considerations (e.g. proximity to cultural and transportation centers, government and private incentives and disincentives, political climate, expertise in industrial and mass merchandising and marketing).
This paper analyzes the economics of this industry, identifies critical success variables and concludes that the prohibitive economics of the industry opera tie against individual entrepreneur and call for regional cooperation.
