The Effect of Types of Child Care On The Self-Concept of Orphan Children in Jordan

The population of this study consisted of Palestinian children.8-15 old, living in the refugee camps in Jordan. Samples of (432) children were randomly drawn from this population and were considered the Ss of this study. A checklist of (112) items was locally constructed and assumed to cover 8 personality dimensions. The list was administered to the S’s and yielded 8 sub-scores and a total score of self-concept. Utilizing a 4x2x2 analysis of variance, the results showed a significant effect of the type of childcare self-concept. The results also revealed significant effect of sex on four sub-scores as well as on the total score of self-concept. There was also a significant interaction effect between childcare type and sex. No significant effect was found for age.
