Education and Falsification of Consciousness A content Analysis Of Primary School Courses In Egypt
Auther : Abdel Basset A. EL-Muty
No society can persist without its own system of education . education has two main functions : the production of skills necessary for running the economy , and the formation of values , methods of thinking and social consciousness of individuals. Consequently one of the crucial issues for any established system of power is the successful reproduction of such individuals whose consciousness do not negate the potentialities of the prevailing system of social power . the aim of the study is to investigate the second function , to show how an educational system can control the process of consciousness formation. Framework : Consciousness is a social product . It is apperception and conception of social reality , in particular , the social relations of production and distribution of wealth and political power . The following methods were used : a) A content analysis of some books and courses at the primary level . b) A historical analysis of the roots of the educational system . Finding : Analysis of data showed that the changes in books and courses introduction during the period of the open door economy policy ( ELINFITAH) assert a positive orientation towards : consumption rather than production , individuals values and interests rather than collective values and interests , economic dependence rather than independence, capita rather than labour, the U.S.A rather than socialist societies and finally , towards class differences rather than social equality.
