Auther : Fouad Abu-Ismail
Marketing literature indicates that little attention has been given to the study of organizational and financial indicat which distinguish efficient from inefficient management of industrial purchasing ors function. The finding of this paper are based upon questionnaires collected from top management and executives in 134 out of 200 companies who represent the community of this study. The stratified sample was in applied in deciding upon companies from which the data was collected. Using mean analysis and T.Test in making comparison between higher and lower efficient companies in managing purchasing function, it was found that the efficient group has clear corporate objectives, policies and procedures. The decision group in efficient companies is more integrated , applies advanced techniques in evaluating different offers from suppliers, is open to new system and technology and participates effectively in the decision making process. It was found also that efficient companies tend to work in “ organic” rather than “ mechanistic” organization.
