Studies about divorce in Kuwait society are rare. This study is an attempt to find out reasons for divorce and its relationship to various social and economic variables. Detailed interviews were conducted with 258 randomly selected divorced women . respondents were well distributed according to age , education , income and religious sect. the reasons they reported for divorced were grouped into eight categories : 1) cruelty & adultery. 2) conflict with in –laws . 3) sexual problems . 4) interaction . 5) financial problems . 6) disobedience or disrespect.7) physical or psychological illness. 8) polygamy . it was found that reasons for divorce had a significant relationship with the duration of marriage , education , income , age at divorce, religious practice and women employment.
