Type A behavior and its relation to neuroticism and extroversion
Auther : Hessah A. AL-Naser
The aim of this study is to examines the correlation between the individual items of the type A behavior measure and the total score on both neuroticism(N) and extroversion (E)scales . our main hypothesis was personality measures may correlate with some , but not all , components of the Type a behavior measure . An abbreviated measure of type A behavior , composed by young and Barboriak 1982 , was used in addition to the scales of N and E from the Eysenck personality questionnaire ( in its Arabic version) . these measures were administered to a sample of 283 male and female university students . the results revealed that some individual items of the type a behavior measure had a significant correlation with the total score of neuroticism , and the total score of extroversion ( namely 33% and 10% respectively ) in males , females and both sexes . this study contributes to our understanding of the relationship between various components of type A behavior and either neuroticism or extroversion.
