An Attempt to Establish Islamic Logical Models for Social Research
Auther : Khairallah Assar
This paper is concerned with two main theses. Firstly, an attempt is made to link the Islamic faith with principles of scientific research in the social sciences. Starting from the nature of the Arabic language, the so-called “derivative method” of thought and nature is explored. Four postulates, or fields, within which Islamic thought can operate are discussed, as well as the derivative relationships that link them together.
Secondly, the implications of a number of statements from the Koran are discussed in the light of the derivative method. Here a few methodological concepts are proposed to help draw a picture of the main sociological issues that face the making of Islamic sociology.
