Europe from Subordination to Neutrality

Auther : Ahmad Al-Rifa’I

Since the second World War. Europe has passed through three distinct stages, which are closely related to the global East-West conflict. The first stage, that of partition and subordination, began with the 1944 Yalta treaty, by which the 1944 Yalta treaty, by which Europe was divided into areas of Eastern influence, divided Europe into areas of Eastern influence. The issue of European security has become one of the most important international issues directly affects world peace. In this era the conflict was resolved by establishing the military alliances of NATO and Warsaw, and the dominance of the dominance of the two superpowers over the domestic policies of their European allies.

The second era, that of détente and accommodation, began with the Helsinki conference on European security and cooperation ( 1973-75 ), which yielded a number of principles forming the basis of inter-European relations.

It confirmed the political and regional status quo, and became a real law of coexistence among countries of differing social systems.

The third era is one of increasing neutral tendencies, with Europe standing at a threshold of a new period in international relations. Although there is not a unified stand in either Eastern or Western Europe, the individual countries have become preoccupied with securing an independent position for Europe in world affairs, and there is mention of reunifying Europe on the basis of neutrality.
