A Comparative Study of the Attitudes of Supervisors, Principles and Teachers toward Social Studies
Auther : Jawdat Saa’deh
The purpose of the study was to analyze and compare the attitudes of Jordanian school supervisors, principals and teachers toward social studies. A questionnaire was devised to measure attitudes; it consisted of 142 items distributed around the important aspects of social studies . It was administered to all the social studies supervisors in the Irbid educational district, as well as to a random sample of school principals and teachers. The results were analyzed using standard statistical procedures. They showed that each group had positive attitudes toward social studies, and that there were no statistically significant differences between the three groups toward the positive and negative aspects of social studies. The study concludes with recommendations to improve the efficiency of those involved with social studies teaching in schools.
