A Survey of Motivation of Kuwait University Students
Auther : Bader Al-Omar
The purpose of the study is to shed light on the nature of motivation among Kuwait University students. Their motivation was subdivided into three factors: intrinsic motivation, self-enhancement, and goal deficiency. The Community College Motivation Inventory was given to a group of students from various disciplines enrolled in a particular course. Students studying hard sciences (science, medicine, engineering and allied health) were found to have a significantly higher level of intrinsic motivation than liberal arts students. The study also found a significant difference in intrinsic motivation according to the grade point average, and showed that self-enhancement increased with the years of study. There was, however , no significant difference between male and female students in all motivational factors.
