A Marketing Approach to the Evaluation and Development of Egyptian Commercial College Graduates
Auther : Naeim Abougomaah
This study utilizes a marketing approach to evaluate graduates from the Colleges of Commerce in Egypt. A sample of 100 subjects was selected from each of the following categories : a) heads of public and governmental organizations, b) heads of private sector organizations, c) graduates of the Colleges of Commerce, and d) faculty members at the Colleges. A different questionnaire was designed and administered to each category of subject, but all shared the same questions concerning the standard of graduates. The overall response rate to the questionnaire was 66%.
The results reveal that although the majority of subjects believe that the standard of graduates is good or above, the faculty members tended to perceive the standard as only average for both academic and practical performance. A number of reasons were given to justify this response. The paper concludes with recommendations for improving the standard of students, including teachers, courses, text-books, teaching methods, student evaluation systems and the relationship with the labor market.
