Determining the most Readable Arabic Type styles on Maps

Arabic language has many type styles. Some of these are easy to read, while others are difficult. The uses of these styles on maps are mostly arbitrary. This study is an attempt to identify the easiest Arabic type styles in term of their readability on maps. Ten Arabic type styles were ranked according to the readability on paper, and their readability on maps with point, line, and areal symbols. The result indicated that the Arabic type styles readability on paper is not the same as Arabic type styles on maps should be limited only to those types that are easy to read on maps.
