The Genesis of the Colonialist Tendency in 19th Century Western Jewish Thought
Auther : A. Mahmoud
The purpose of this study is not merely to discuss the various aspects of the Western Jewish thought in the nineteenth century. The prime interest of this study is to investigate the profound influence that European imperialism had on Jewish thought and experience during this period.
To turn to a more specific discussion within this context, the study presents the main political ideas of three Zionist pioneers Al-Kalai, Kalischer, and Hen. In the course of discussing their ideas, the study tries to determine the extent of Western influence on the rise of the Colonialist tendency in 19th century Jewish thought in Europe.
