While it is well-known that most economic concepts, problems, and issues can be traced back to the works in economic thought of the Mercantilists, Physiatrists, and the Classical economists, the aim this paper, in line with similar works, is to trace these concepts further back, indeed, several centuries namely, to an Arab writer from North Africa, Abdul Rahman Ibn Khaldoun (1332-1406). He, keenly and intelligently, dealt with economic concepts in several chaters of his famous work the Introduction of Ibn Khaldoun. This work makes fascinating reading as he discussed such issues as: historical materialism, division of labor, private property, stages of economic growth, rent, inflation, economic sociology, value theory, many historians of economic thought have previously give full credit to the development of these concepts to Eurpean writers. It is time that we, the Arab intellectuals, should investigate our past intellectual heritage and present its remarkable contribution to science and modern civilization.
