Cultural Differences in Uncertainty Avoidance
Auther : Abdel-Fattah E. Darwish
This study aims to detect cultural differences in uncertainty avoidance (being one of the parameters of thinking and co-operating behavior) amongst Egyptian and German students. Two hundred and fifty (250) undergraduates took part in the experiment. The results demonstrated substantial differences between the two groups in uncertainty avoidance (UAI) and cooperation behavior. The findings were discussed in terms of Hofstede theory of cultural dimensions (1980) as well as other pertinent theories. A number of relevant recommendations were made in this connection.
