This study aims to investigate the effects of gender, scientific qualifications and age on lifestyle, among Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) employees. The population study consists of all the Omani employees, both male and female, at SQU. The study sample consists of 133 employees, 76 males and 57 females. They were selected randomly from all the universitys faculties and from different centers. A life style scale has been developed which consists of 76 items in its latest version.
The results show that the means of lifestyle are in the middle, and represent a moderately healthy lifestyle for SQU employees (males and females) who have a degree or a college diploma or less, and a university first degree. The results also indicate a very high healthy lifestyle for differences between males and females who have a masters and doctorate degree. The results also reveal no differences between males and females in the means of lifestyle degrees.
Furthermore there is a significant effect for age, in favor of those who are in the 30 to 40 age bracket. Having a masters degree also shows significant effects. A discussion of the results and recommendations are made.
