The National Strategies and the Problem of Overlap of Concepts
Auther : Fawzi ALZubaidi
Identifying concepts is critical to understanding the strategies and their applications:
- National strategy, Foreign policy strategy, National Security Strategy, Great strategy, National military strategy.
Because of the overlap between tasks and functions, many experts agree that there is a great overlapping between the national security strategy, for example, and the national military strategy, which creates confusion in the concepts. This study tries to establish the criteria that can distinguish between these concepts, including: the theoretical views, thought standards, aims, resources, and planning levels. The study concludes with an attempt to develop a general comparison between the various national strategies according to the above criteria, hoping that this will facilitate the study of any national strategy and reduce the gaps between the theory of strategy and its practical applications.
Keywords: National strategy, Foreign policy strategy, National security strategy, Great strategy, National military strategy.
