Auther : Fawwaz Ayoub Momani Abdullah Al Shmrani
The purpose of the study was to identify the intensity of Social media networks usage among teachers in Irbid, the 1st Educational directorate, Jordan. The sample of the study consisted of (550) male and female teachers selected by using convenient sampling procedures. To achieve the purpose of the study, the researchers used Facebook Intensity Scale (FBI) prepared by Ellison, et al. (2007) after establishing its Validity and reliability. Results of the study found that the intensity of social networking sites usage among male and female teachers was moderate. The results also showed that there were statistically significant differences in intensity of social media usage due to gender, in favor of male teachers, and due to the duration of social media usage, in favor of more than 4 hours of social media use; also, due to age between teachers who were less than 35 years of age on the one hand, and those who were (36-50, more than 51) on the other, in favor of teachers who were less than 35 years of age. There were no statistically significant differences in intensity of social media usage due to the number of family members and academic qualifications. In light of these results, several recommendations were presented, the most prominent of which was to develop counseling and training programs that deal with social networking sites.
