A Structural Model of the Relationship between Psychological Burnout, Personal Wisdom, and Psychological Happiness among a Sample of Teachers
Auther : Khaled Nahes Alotabi
The present study aimed to identify the nature of a structural model of the relationship between psychological burnout, personal wisdom, and psychological happiness for teachers. To achieve this, the researcher applied three scales, namely, Three-Dimensional Wisdom Scale, Maslach Burnout Inventory, and Oxford Happiness Inventory, to a sample of (562) Saudi teachers in Riyadh. The results indicated that there was a significant negative relationship between personal wisdom and the variables of psychological happiness and psychological burnout, and that psychological happiness could be predicted from these two variables. In addition, psychological happiness contributed to explaining the presence of a higher percentage of change in psychological burnout than personal wisdom. The results also revealed that there was an indirect effect of psychological happiness on the relationship between personal wisdom and psychological burnout in case it was moderate. Finally, the study recommended the need to include programs for developing personal wisdom and increasing teachers' feeling of happiness as one supportive means of reducing the chances of teachers' burnout.
