The Trends of the Political Development Limitations in Jordan: A Field Study
Auther : Muwafaq Abuhammod
This study aims to uncover the limitations of political development in Jordan based on the responses of the survey participants in an attempt to enhance the role of Jordanian citizens to be effectively involved in addressing these limitations, and developing plans and strategies that would ensure resolving these limitations and avoiding chaos and political turbulence and crises within the Jordanian community.
The study answers a number of questions concerning the degree of Jordanian public awareness of political development and the reasons that hinder its progress. The study also sought to identify the relationship between the respondents' attitudes towards the political development limitations and the set of demographic, social and economic variables (such as gender, age, monthly income, and educational level).
This study was conducted following the method of social survey, and the data was collected by means of a questionnaire completed by (582) randomly selected sample of respondents. The selected sample covered the various categories and backgrounds that constitute the Jordanian society.
The most important findings of the study show that the majority of the survey respondents were aware that "corruption, mediation, and nepotism are the major limitations that hinder the realization of real political development in their society," and that "absence of political culture among Jordanian citizens is one of the major constraints on political development."
