Auther : Suad Abdullah ALbesher
The present study aims to identify the irrational thoughts in a sample of women suffering from social anxiety, and to provide a rational, emotional and behavioral counseling program to reduce these thoughts and their social anxiety. The sample consisted of 16 women were divided into two groups: an experimental group (consisting of 9 women), and a control group (consisting of 7 women). The social anxiety scale and the irrational measurement scale were applied. The results showed a positive significant correlation between irrational thoughts and social anxiety. There were statistically significant differences between the average grade of the experimental group and the average grade of the control group after applying the pilot program for the benefit of the experimental group which indicates their improvement. There are statistically significant differences between the average grade of the experimental group before and after the application of the indicative program on the scale of irrational thoughts and the measure of social anxiety in favor of the post-test. The results also showed that there were no statistically significant differences between the average grade of the experimental group in the two applications (the post-test and follow-up) on the scale of irrational thoughts and the measure of social anxiety, which indicates continued improvement.
