Auther : Abd- Elmottaleb Abd- Elkader Soud Al-Ghanim
The main aim of present study is to explore the effect of the level of positive and negative thinking on the memory processes among Kuwait University students in the light of some variables. The study also seeks to examine the differences between the scores of the experimental group and the control group across the variables under study. Moreover¡ the current study attempts to determine the best predictors of positive and negative thinking among the study variables. The final sample comprised (160) male and female students from Kuwait university, whose ages ranged between (19-36yrs) with (M=23.9yrs, SD=5.2yrs). This study included the following tools: a) The scale of positive and negative thinking; b) The scale of memory processes; c) the achievement test of psychology. The consistency and reliability of these scales have been previously measured. The study clearly showed that: 1) There was a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in memory processes and academic achievement, in favor of the experimental group; 2) There was a significant statistical difference on positive and negative thinking attributed to gender, in favor of males; 3) There was a significant statistical difference on positive and negative thinking attributed to the type of college, in favor of the college of Sharia and the college of Arts; 4) There was a significant statistical difference on positive and negative thinking attributed to the interaction between the type of college and gender, in favor of male students of the college of Sharia and the college of Arts; 5) There was no significant statistical differences on memory processes attributed to gender, nor were there any significant statistical differences on memory processes attributed to the type of college; 6) There was a significant statistical difference on memory processes attributed to the interaction between the type of college and gender, in favor of male students of the college of Sharia and the college of Arts; and 7) The academic achievement turned out to be a strong predictor of both positive and negative thinking.
