Environmental Concern among Students at Jordanian Universities: An Explratory Study on Students from the Hashemite University

This study aims to identify the level of environmental concern among the students of the Hashemite University, and the relationship between the level of environmental concern and some variables, such as gender, academic level, college, level of income, and place of residence. It also aims to study the nature of environmental concern among students through their answers on a global scale that measures ``Environmental Concern'', which is known as the NEP scale. The study population consisted of all students at the Hashemite University (15770 students). The sample size was 731 students, distributed based on gender where 362 questionnaires were distributed for the males and 369 for the females. The study was conducted in the second semester during the academic year 2008/2009. The results of the study showed that the level of environmental concern among students was 55.1 through their answers on the NEP scale. The results showed that there were statistically significant differences between college, place of residence and the level of environmental concern of the students.
