Factors of Kuwait's Decision to Support the U.S. - Iraq War of 2003
Auther : Faisal M. Abu-Sulaib
During the U.S. war against Iraq in 2003, Kuwait decided to support the American war effort by providing logistic facilities and approximately 60% of its national territory for use by U.S. troops. Kuwait also provided financial support to the American effort of overthrowing the regime of Saddam Hussein, though neighboring nations, such as Saudi Arabia and Turkey, opted to avoid involvement in the war. This study aims to investigate the process of decision-making in Kuwaiti foreign policy by analyzing Kuwait's decision to support the U.S. war against Iraq with a focus on internal and external factors.
