The Impact of the Fourth and Fifth Generation Wars in Perpetuating the Conflict in the Arab Countries (Syria and Libya as a Model)

Auther : Amal Zerniz

Objective: This study seeks to analyze the effect of the fourth and fifth generation of wars and explain the purpose of targeting a number of Arab countries after the wave of protest movement in the context of what is now known as internal wars, by studying the cases of Syria and Libya. Methods: Two scientific methods were employed: The descriptive method and the case study method to describing the tools and areas of conflict in these wars, and analyz their impact on both Libya and Syria. Results: This type of wars seeks to exploit the contradictions within the state in a way that produces a permanent cycle of violence. Due to the incapacity of controlling the ongoing conflict in Libya and Syria, gray areas evolved and spread as a result of the conflict interactions between and within the state and non-state actors that mostly seek to obstruct any possibility of settlement in order to maintain a geostrategic situation that serves their interests. Conclusion: Since 2011, most of the Arab countries have become an arena for practicing the strategies of this type of wars in order to create a new status quo in which they become failing countries that can be easily controlled. Syria and Libya are thereby important entrances to change the geostrategic situation in the Arab region through the optimal investment of the internal conflict in them. Keywords: Wars, Fourth generation, Fifth generation, Syria, Libya.
