Comparative Morphometric Analysis of Network Characteristics of Bisha Drainage Basin: Comparative Study between the DEM and Saudi Topographic Map
Auther : Saad Rafa Al Amri
Objective: This study is based on a comparison of a random sample of 10 Wadi Bishah tributaries network extracted from the SRTM DEM 30m and SRTM DEM 90m digital elevation models and the 1/50000 topographic map. The comparison process was applied using several statistical methods by the analysis tools available in the statistical analyze tools of SPSS23 to examine the variance and differences between the stream numbers. Methods: This study used the Shapiro-Wilk, the Homogeneity Leven, ANOVA and LSD statistical tests available with Analysis tools of SPSS23 software. Results: The statistical tests showed the normal distriburion of stream number and their lengths. The Homogeneity test of variance showed the significant variances of the first, second and third streams orders at the significance level of 0.05. The ANOVA and the LSD tests confirmed theses results.
Conclusion: The results of the morphometric comparative analysis showed that the stream numbers and lengths derived from the 1/50000 topographic map are higher than those of the SRTM DEM 30m and SRTM DEM 90m digital elevation models, 62% of the total number and lengths of the first, second and third streams orders.
