Conduct Disorders among Kuwaiti Childern Living in Low-income Families

This study has a three-fold goal. Firstly, it seeks to determine the rate of conduct disorder among Kuwaiti childern who live in poor families. Secondly, it attempts to determine the role of gender in the severity of such disorder. Finally, it explores the association between the disorder and selected variables. The sample consists of 291 subjects selected randomly from the recipients of public assistance provided by the Ministry of Public Affairs. The findings of this study reveal that: 1) 3.5% of Kuwaiti children living in poor families suffer from conduct disorder at clinical levels; 2) Gender plays no significant part in conduct disorders, and 3) Conduct disorder correlates significantly with socio-economic stress, parental monitoring, parental responsiveness, and parental depression.
