Socialization and Musculinity Values in Kuwaiti Society

This study examines the relationship between masculinity values and the socialization process in the Kuwaiti society. In spite of the economic and social changes in Kuwaiti society, we find that masculinity values still have a major impact on the process of socialization and learning the sex role. Culture plays a vital role in effecting the process of socialization. The Arab culture remains affected by many traditional elements, which glorify masculinity. In the first part of the paper the researcher theoretically exhibits the relationship which connects masculinity values and the socialization process together through an analytical exhibition of social theories which explain the role of socialization process in deeply rooting masculinity values. In the second part, the researcher examines the nature of the causes which contribute to the glorification of masculinity values through a content analysis of a group of studies carried out in Kuwait and the Arab region.
