The Correlation Between Dissertation in Social Work and Professional Practice

This study aims at establishing the degree of correlation between Ph.D. Dissertations and social work practice in the Saudi community. This reconnaissance study depended on the social survey method and the tool of analyzing the singnificance to analyze the content of Ph. D. dissertations specialized in social work. The number of dissertations was 26. That figure was on the basis of s number of principles which the researcher deduced to answer the questions that relate to the degree of correlation between Ph. D. dissertations and the different fields of social work, different spatial fields, different time fields, different human fields; the degree to which researches include professional and empirical intervention; the degree to which researches include results and recommendations that can be applied in professional practice; and, finally, the degree to which researches direct professional practitioners. The researcher has come to a number of results: 1- weakness of correlation between Ph. D. dissertations and the difference in practice fields, spatial fields, time fields, and human fields. 2- Low number of researches used in the empirical method and design. 3- Most of the recommendations of the researches can be aplied. 4- Low number of recommendations directed to the professional practitioner.
