ABSTRACT
The purpose of this paper is to study the distribution of major elements in three hornblende and eight biotite samples from the andesite dykes of the Wadi El-Mellaha area. The behaviour of 13 elements in the examined hornblende and biotite is discussed according to different variation diagrams. The studies of both mafic minerals are attempted in order to elucidate the chemical properties of hornblende and biotite during their crystallisation from the andesitic lava.
