ABSTRACT

Seventeen granitic bodies pertaining to the group of the Younger Granites of the basement complex of the Eastern Desert of Egypt, and occurring mainly between latitudes 24؛ and 25؛ N, were selected for field and petrographic studies. Magmatic origin is evident for the Younger Granites under consideration. Their intrusion appears to have been controlled by deep-seated tectonic zones and block faults. The intrusive sequence of these granites began with an emplacement of biotite granite magma, followed by an upwelling of muscovite granite magma. The biotite granites were affected by dynamic deformations while the muscovite granites have suffered metasomatic and pneumatolytic hydrothermal alterations.
