Phenylpropiolic acids XIII. Factors affecting the ratio of the products of the reaction of phenylpropiolic acid with hydrazine hydrate

ABSTRACT
Phenylpropiolic acid reacts with hydrazine hydrate to give a mixture of 5-hydroxy-3 phenylpyrazole and methylphenylazine. The ratio of these products was found to be affected both by the temperature and the pH of the reaction medium.
