ABSTRACT
The effects of the metabolic inhibitors phlorizin, iodoacetic acid and 2:4 dinitrophenol on the rate of glucose absorption from the small intestine of the lizard Uromastix microlepis were studied. An it1 vivo technique of tied loop of small intestine was used. The results obtained show that glucose absorption is inhibited by these metabolic inhibitors when applied locally and furthermore, that the percentage of inhibition increases with increases in the concentration of the inhibitor. The results also show that, of these inhibitors, phlorizin is found to be the most potent.
