ABSTRACT
Three spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) varieties representing two distinctly different plant types were used to ascertain the nature and degree of association between leaf area and yield contributing component characters. Leaf area was found to be positively correlated with tiller number per plant and kernel number per ear. Leaf area was negatively correlated with single kernel weight in tall stature-long broad leaved variety Chinese Spring; but it was positively correlated with single kernel weight in short stature-short narrow leaved varieties Thatcher and Timstein. Component interactions were observed between tiller and ear number per plant and/or kernel number per ear and kernel weight.
