ABSTRACT
Epidermal and internal anatomical characters of Scirpus littorulis Schrad. (Cyperaceae), Juncus riyidus C.A. Mey. (Juncaceae), Imperata cylindrica (L.) Beauv. (Poaceae), Phragmites australis (Cav.) Trin. ex Steud. (Poaceae) and Typha domingensis Pers. (Typhaceae) were investigated and illustrated. Internal anatomical characters show similarity in the presence of intercellular air spaces which vary in size and distribution. Vascular bundle organization is representative of monocotyledons with major differences as to the type, size, distribution and the degrees of lignification.
