Interactive minimization scheme of copper loss in induction

ABSTRACT
The paper has presented a method for minimizing copper loss of wound-rotor induction motor
using series resonance tank in series with the rotor circuit. When an external circuit is connected
in series with the rotor circuit, the values of the circuits parameters which ensures minimum
copper loss at any desired speed are computed. The computations are performed for both a
fixed and a continuously-varyingcapacitance with respect to rotor speed. It has been found that
the later case is better than the former. The optimization technique is then generalized to allow
the motor to be driven from a variable frequency source.
