ABSTRACT
Soil samples were collected from seven localities from the Jubail industrial city in Saudi Arabia
and analysed for their moisture content, organic matter content, total soluble salts, pH value,
heavy metal content and fungal flora. The soil is alkaline and differs in moisture content,
organic matter content and total soluble salts. Soil samples differed greatly in the concentration
of cadmium, copper, lead, manganese, nickel and zinc. Twenty-two isolates of species
belonging to eleven genera were isolated from soil samples of seven localities. Aspergillus,
Fusariunz, Penicillium and Ulocladium were predominant and represented by three species each.
Alternaria, Cladosporium and Curvularia with two species each and, Aureobasidiunz, Mucor,
Nigrospora and Stenzphyliunz were represented by one species each.
