 ABSTRACT

This study constitutes part of a major effort to study the digenetic trematode fauna of Kuwait Bay, northwestern Arabian Gulf. Larval trematodes, recovered from intertidal invertebrates between 1986 and 1996, are listed by their families and information is given on their hosts, localities and sites of infection. The list also includes brief remarks on each species. The trematodes are cross listed according to their crustacean and molluscan hosts of the 56 listed trematode species, 42 were recovered from gastropods, 3 from bivalves, 10 from crabs and 1 from a shrimp. The list includes 42 trematodes newly recorded from inverte brates of the Bay. The recorded trematodes represent the families: Bivesiculidae (1), Bucephalidae (2) Cyathocotylidae (2) Diplostomidae (1) Echmostomatidae (5) Fello distomidae (2), Haplosplanchnidae (1), Hemiuridae (3), Heterophyidae (7), Lepocreadiidae (1), Microphallidae (14), Opecoelidae (5), Philophthalmidae (6), Plagiorchiidae (2), Schisto somatidae (1) and Zoogomdae (3) The adult stage of these trematodes parasitizes birds and fishes .
